Hostal AYAHUMA is located in the indigenous community of Peguche, and the old railroad track runs right through the middle of the hotel buildings. The hotel is surrounded by handicraft workshops, cultivated land and mountains. At 1 km distance you will find the ceremonial Waterfall of Peguche and at 3 km the “Mercado de Ponchos” of Otavalo, which is the most famous Indian market of Ecuador. Peguche lies in the Imbabura province (which is famous for it’s lakes at a distance of 100 km North of Quito, the capital of Ecuador.Here you will find the opportunity to get to know the roots of the most famous and well known craftsmen and musicians of the country. From the hotel you can undertake a large variety of activities and visits.
HOW TO GET THERE BY BUS, TAXI OR OWN VEHICLE.

Take the (Inter-provincial) bus to Ibarra from the Bus Terminal in the city center (old town) of Quito, or from the Avenida de la Prensa at (the altitude of) TV Channel 23 (this is closer to the airport). Ask the driver to drop you off at the bus stop of Peguche (at 5 minutes from Otavalo). Once in Peguche community, the friendly inhabitants will be able to indicate you how to reach our hotel.
The hotel is located only at 4 blocks from the Panamerican Highway.
NOTE! We do have a transport service to pick you up from or to take you to the Quito airport .
TO COME ON FOOT
From Otavalo you can make a very nice walk of 40 minutes, following the railroad in Northern direction.
